Overview

Clever Cloud is a French platform-as-a-service built for the same job Heroku used to do: push code with Git and let the platform build, run and scale it. Managed databases and other services plug in as add-ons, and the whole platform runs on European sovereign infrastructure, including partners such as OVHcloud, Scaleway, IONOS and SecNumCloud-qualified Cloud Temple.

There is no permanent free tier. New accounts get free credits at signup without entering a payment card, which is enough to deploy and test real apps. The pricing page does not publish the credit amount, and once it is used you fund the account monthly. Billing is per second on actual usage, so a stopped app stops costing money.

Clever Cloud is not the cheapest way to run an always-on side project; a small VPS costs less. It is a strong choice when you need a managed PaaS that stays under European jurisdiction, for example for public-sector, health or enterprise customers in France.
